Google Guaranteed For Local Service

Google Launches Google Guaranteed for Locksmiths, Plumbers, and Handymen.. Exciting Right?  Well, on a daily search for a current client in the contractor world, we stumbled upon something very interesting; Google Guaranteed. It intention to look like “Google Guaranteed” is rolling out a plan for guaranteeing work provided by locksmiths, plumbers, and handymen to protect homeowners against locksmiths, plumbers, and handymen who are not licensed, bonded and screened.

Also, Google is making a step in increasing its measures on security against fraud and online scams.

The Google Guarantee badge  is available for businesses that pass a Google screening and verification process through Local Services Ads or its partners. Learn more about the screening and verification process

If you’re backed by the Google Guarantee, and your customers (that came to your business through Local Services Ads) aren’t satisfied with the quality of your work, Google may, in its absolute and sole discretion, reimburse the customer up to the amount paid for the initial service, subject to a lifetime limit. The following are the upper limits of lifetime limits per customer in each country:

  • United States: $2,000
  • Canada: CAD $2,000
  • United Kingdom: GBP £1,500
  • Ireland: EUR €1,500
  • Spain: EUR €1,500
  • France: EUR €1,500
  • Italy: EUR €1,500
  • Germany: EUR €1,500
  • Austria: EUR €1,500
  • Belgium: EUR €1,500
  • Switzerland: CHF ₣2,000

What we may reimburse for

  • If a customer is not satisfied with the quality of your work, Google may, in its absolute and sole discretion, reimburse the customer up to the amount on the job invoice for the initial services provided by you, up to a lifetime limit.
  •  We won’t reimburse for add-on or future projects, damages to property, dissatisfaction with price or provider responsiveness, or cancellations.

How it works

If one of your customers submits a request to be reimbursed by Google, Google will decide on a resolution. This decision is based solely on Google’s discretion and is not a substitute for any legal or insurance action customers might take with regards to a performed service. The Search Engine Journal wrote an article about this a while ago, stating;

Google is fighting back against fraud with an advanced verification process for handymen, plumbers, and locksmiths.

Locksmiths, plumbers, and handymen who are not licensed, bonded and screened are going to have a hard time going through this process to get a listing on Google My Business.

Showing Proof of License, Bond or Insurance will be Mandatory

If they do manage to get a listing or already have a listing on Google My Business, they will need to show proof that they are “Google Guaranteed” by uploading documents showing that they are licensed, bonded and screened.

Failure to prove that their company is licensed, bonded and screened will result in Google My Business removing their Google My Business page (YIKES). That will end up being hundreds of locksmith who will be in need of some serious recovery services.

How to Get Google Guaranteed?

  1. Create Your Listing on Google My Business
  2. Navigate to “Local Service Ads” of Google
  3. Enter in your NAP (Name, Address, Phone)
  4. Select and Set your Hours
  5. Select and Set your Cities
  6. Select and Set your Services
  7. Enter License Number
  8. Request reviews from clients
  9. Background Check
  10. Also background checks for all employees who enter customers home
  11. Upload insurance/bond/etc.
  12. Enter Billing
  13. Publish your local service ad

Keep in mind, we had to bold out “Enter Your License Number” 

After you have rolled through all the steps to complete your submission, you then need to complete advanced verification by finishing your application with a separate third-party website. This is all so new in the world of Google.
